    Even though the task seems impossible to achieve, each one of us has a part to play in ending global warming, and it starts with little changes we can make to the way we live.

  • There is no "they"

    There is no magic wand that scientists or the Government can wave to solve the problem of global warming. But we as individuals have the power to solve it if we all take responsibility for our own energy consumption.

  • Selfless and simple

    It’s as simple as running your washing machine at night and doing fewer washes. Or walking instead of driving small distances. Or having just one day a week that you don’t eat meat. You can take control of this crisis and you CAN make a difference.

Enabling Net Zero

Helping the county of Buckinghamshire to become carbon neutral by partnering with businesses and community organisations to establish renewable energy generation and other low carbon technologies wherever possible.

Facilitating Net Zero

Facilitating progress towards carbon neutrality by installing and funding infrastructure such as energy efficient buildings and renewable energy sources.

Showing local people how to reduce their energy usage and carbon emissions in their daily life, their homes and at work.

Removing barriers to Net Zero

Helping organisations to save money on energy bills while generating a financial surplus for re-investment in carbon emission reduction and energy efficiency projects in our community, and developing skills and expertise relating to renewable energy, low carbon technologies and energy efficiency in our young people.

A community effort to benefit the community

BCE enables schools, public buildings and businesses to cut their carbon emissions and pay less for energy by partnering with them to provide a source of renewable energy.

Buckinghamshire Community Energy (BCE) is a community benefit society, which means it is a not-for-profit social enterprise registered with the FCA, with an asset lock and funding from people in the community, who fund projects, become Members and have a say in how BCE is run and what projects it should develop.

Energy efficiency and renewable energy advice

We’ve been awarded new UK Power Networks funding for our Energy Champions to deliver free personalised home energy advice at community events and home visits.  Event pop-up locations range from food banks, libraries and coffee mornings to farmers markets, summer fairs and eco-events, and we also plan to continue our popular Open Eco-Homes events and Leaky Homes Roadshows.

Energy advice areas cover anything from energy efficiency, heating controls and smart meters to solar panels, heat pumps, reducing fuel bills and accessing grant support. Giveaways like reflector foil, LED bulbs, insulation tape and winter warmer items mean that people can make practical changes and improvements with quick and simple DIY fixes to save energy and money at home.

Last year our team of 15 Energy Champions attended over 85 events and supported over 1,000 people with energy advice and Warm Home Assessments with funding from energy distribution networks. We work closely with local parish councils and other community groups to provide additional support.

We are also working with a number of Parish and Town Councils as well as Aylesbury Vale Estates and some schools, and have delivered or are currently working on Feasibility Studies with recommendations for energy-saving and decarbonisation measures to:
