The Energy Efficient Homes Clinic focuses on energy efficiency, renewable and decarbonised energy and what individuals can do to reduce and offset carbon emissions from their home energy usage.

We are very grateful to the North West Chilterns Community Board for their support for this event.

The event will:

  • Inform and advise local people in the North West Chilterns Community Board area on how to reduce their energy usage and carbon emissions in their daily life and work.
  • Provide insights into the types of heat loss homes have, based on the findings of the Leaky Homes Roadshows held in Studley Green and Stokenchurch this winter.
  • Stimulate discussion, thinking and action around affordable local, community and individual solutions to the climate crisis.

Our aim is to help people to do something practical about energy efficiency that will help them reduce energy bills and our community to collectively achieve Net Zero targets by reducing household carbon emissions.

Unity Lime Products

Unity Lime Products

Unity Lime was created to share our passion, knowledge, and experience of both lime & sustainable insulation products. We are the national distributor of PAVATEX wood fibre insulation and provide a one stop shop for materials, systems build ups & technical information for architects, contractors, and homeowners alike. With locations in Buckinghamshire & York, our team strive to ensure the whole UK has access to high-quality, high-performance building materials.

Why use natural insulation? Natural insulations provide excellent U-Values, Y-values & airtightness, they also have excellent specific heat capacity making them a great choice to help prevent summertime overheating. They are breathable, meaning that it allows vapour to pass through the insulation, making it an excellent choice for masonry buildings and timber frame structures alike.

Why use lime? Lime mortar is a must for historic monolithic masonry walls where vapour needs to escape the building fabric. Its use helps prevent dampness in walls and protects masonry from being damaged by the effects of freeze-thaw.

When lime plasters & renders are combined with natural insulation materials the result is a beautiful, warm home that helps to regulate humidity and is extremely resistant to mould.

Chimney Sheep Ltd

Chimney Sheep Ltd

How much heat are you losing up your chimney?

Chimneys are cleverly designed to pull air out of a building, whether you have the fire lit or not. If you have the central heating on, then a whole roomful of lovely warm air will be lost up the chimney per hour. This escaping air needs to be replaced, so fresh air is pulled in through gaps around doors and windows, causing the cold draughts that we notice.

The Chimney Sheep blocks the chimney, stops the warm air from escaping, and dramatically stops cold draughts. It saves around 5% off heating bills, so that’s around £100 per year!
